Homeage to Catalonia by George Orwell

Homeage to Catalonia is all about Orwell’s experiences in during the Spainish Revolution.

It’s set in 1936 as he arrives in Spain to start training with the republicans.

I didn’t get to the end of the book, as I lost interest/momentum after he returned from his first stint at the front – I think maybe the very political stuff turned me off.

Chapter 3 though I did really like – all about how a comrade militia can actually function. With lots of detail about the quality of the equipment they all have – really quite fascinating.

Maybe I’ll try and finish it again one day…Homeage to Catalonia by George Orwell

George Orwell’s Diaries – in real time!

I’ve just come across this fascinating project by The Orwell Prize. They’ve set up a blog which is publishing George Orwell’s diaries exactly 70 years on from when he wrote them.

They started doing this in 2008, and everything will have been published in 2012.
