In Dependence by Sarah Ladipo Manyika

In DependenceAnother of the £1 books in my backlog. And well worth it too.

In Dependence tells the story of 2 people, Vanessa and Tayo, who fall in love at Oxford University in the 1960s. Tayo is on a scholarship from Nigeria and Venessa is the daughter of a UK Government official.

Their love-story covers religion, politics, racism and more over a 40 year period. There is a lot of deep subject matter here – but it’s not so much that you get bogged down it and lose the story, I found it very easy to read.

I would certainly recommend it.
