The Wheel of Darkness by Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child

I can’t believe I’ve not come across the Preston & Child books before. I really couldn’t put down The Wheel of Darkness!

A fantastic story of saving the world from ancient mysterious powers. Based around a tibetan artifact that goes missing – there’s twists a-plenty and I’m still pondering one of the who-done-its now, so I’ll probably be flicking through again over the next few days to see if I can work it out.

Since picking it up I’ve realised it’s part of a series of books about the hero Aloysius Pendergast, but it really does stand on its own (you don’t need to have read the previous ones to get it). Although it was so gripping the rest of the series is definitely on my list now.

So, if you like a bit of mysticism, a thrilling read, and certain amount of pre-apocolyptic fear then this is one for you.
